Open Graph Previewer
Introducing my first ever Firefox extension: Open Graph Previewer!
As an avid developer and enthusiast of productivity enhancements, I discovered that testing social media cards wasn't as seamless as I had hoped it to be.
The process often involved either navigating to another website or utilizing a somewhat cumbersome extension.
Determined to simplify and elevate the experience of testing and previewing content on platforms like X and Facebook, I embarked on the creation of Open Graph Previewer.
Key Features:
Overview: Access a convenient overview displaying all Open Graph tags.
Real-Time Previews: Experience live updates of previews within the extension upon page refresh.
Platform Harmony: Effortlessly toggle between X and Facebook previews.
Behind the Scenes:
The development of this extension marked a significant journey for me, as it marked my first dive into extension development. My approach began with a going over the MDN docs, coupled with thoughtful consideration of the extension's look and feel.
I really wanted it to be a developer-friendly and low-effort experience, therefore I opted to let the extension live within a devtools panel. This design choice allows it to remain open without requiring repeated clicks, seamlessly integrating with the development process.
What's Next?
Open Graph Previewer is just taking its first steps! While I've currently only created previews for X and Facebook, I really want to expand the range of options, including platforms like Discord.
Additionally, I have plans to extend the availability of the extension to Chrome.
Beyond these developments, I'm eager to receive feedback and requests from users. Feel free to reach out and share your suggestions on what features you'd like to see incorporated!
